During beauty school, Janet got a job at a local independent salon where she worked Wednesday evenings and Saturdays where she learned the ropes of the business. After she graduated she was able to get a chair and worked at the salon for 8 years. In March 2011 Janet decided to open her own salon where she could have full creative freedom and spread her wings as a stylist. 

Janet was one of our very first customers to take to the Featherlocks trend and has been extremely successful doing so! We asked her a few more questions about her salon and here’s what she had to say…

Featherlocks: What would you say is your favorite “hair trend” right now? 

Janet: All the braids and the looks from the 40's! Takes us back to "old school" hairstyling 101! Plus there are so many ways to incorporate bold pieces of color! And the feathers can achieve that!

F:Who would you say is your main clientele that gets Featherlocks? 

J: Mainly tweens go for the feathers but it is so NOT limited to that. I did a birthday party and the party girl's 3 year old brother was bummed that he wasn't getting any attention so he got a feather too! Just lit him up! I think he wore it for 3 weeks! And just last week, I put a bright pink fat feather on my 90 year old client because she is the friskiest lady I know!

F: How do you market Featherlocks?

J: I wear them myself, I have the stickers on my mirror and door and on the corner of my car, I put them on one of the girls in my photo shoot and then put it on my facebook page and website. www.scissorhappyhair.com
